Well Being Recovery Group
The group was started in Spring 2017 run by The Independence Trust and hosted by Encounter Church.  It’s a new support group for those with mental health issues based around the principles of 5 Ways to Well Being Recovery methods. The five week course has now been completed and going forwards the group will be ‘Peer Led’ and will exist to support and build on the friendships and connections which have been made. This new Well Being group is open to anyone who would like to attend and takes place every other Friday from 1pm to 2:30pm in the Cafe at Encounter Church.

Upcoming Dates:
16th February and 2nd, 16th an 30th March. You can contact Andrew Wood (Independence Trust) on 01242 512812 or by email at Andrew.wood@independence

We have been delighted at the response and the feedback we’ve had about this group and if you missed out but would be interested in attending the next course then please get in touch with us.

IMG_0130-1A new Bereavement Support Group is being hosted at St Peter’s Centre, Winchcombe (next to St Peter’s Church)

A bereavement support group has now been formed in Winchcombe, and welcomes anyone who has been bereaved at any time. It’s run as a self-help group, and all of the members have at some time had close personal experience of bereavement. There is time to talk, listen and socialise in a warm and understanding environment, with an occasional speaker to talk on subjects people find helpful. If you feel nervous about coming for the first time on your own, we will make sure someone is available to come with you and introduce you. Please telephone our Encounter church office for details of who to contact at St Peter’s Church.Meeting Dates (last Thursday of every month, 2.30 p.m. at St Peter’s Centre):

From time to time we run a variety of different courses at Encounter.  These include practical hands on life courses such as

  • Parenting courses
  • Marriage courses
  • Bereavement Counselling
  • Cookery courses etc

We also provide faith-based courses which are intended to help us get to grips with what it really means to live the Christian life in a way that brings fulfillment and joy despite what life may throw at us, and to ensure that what people see in us brings glory to God rather than people who just obey a set of rules and regulations.  We have always said, we don’t do religion at this church – ours is a lifestyle born out of a personal relationship with Jesus.
