The concept of New Year Resolutions can reinforce a feeling that we aren’t good enough. The toxic “New Year, New You” message which gets pedalled out by gyms and diet companies can make us feel as if we have to change. How about ending the year listing three things that have made you happy, three things that you are proud of and three things that you’ve learned from? We don’t very often have perfect years but by doing this we can notice and be grateful for the good things.
A new diet, gym or whatever will not help us find happiness. We need to love and accept ourselves for who we are now. God created us in his own image and the bible tells us that we are his masterpieces! Wow! So don’t let adverts, society and fashion make you feel you’re not good enough as you are now.
